Revetments

|
| Reinforced fill with rock roll facing |
Revetment works are carried out to embankments and aquatic margins to protect
and retain them from erosion. Revetment packages are described as hard using materials such as steel and concrete or soft
using indigenous plants and materials such as jute and coir.

AWM offers a wide range of revetment packages to suit the varied requirements
of our customers and the environment. Where possible and practical we always aim to use bio-engineering incorporating
indigenous plants into the design for improved aesthetics and longevity. Hard Revetment Types include: o Steel sheet piles typically for marinas, moorings and retaining high banks. o Concrete block systems for heavy
traffic use of a shoreline, fast flows or heavy wave action. o Wooden structures such as cam sheeting or sleepers for more
formal environments such as parks. Soft Revetment Types include: o The use of indigenous
marginal plants to stabilise a bank and prevent erosion. These are often pre-grown in coir rolls of various sizes or
flat pallets to provide an instant green solution. o Reinforced earth wrapped in geotextile to enable a steeper slope finish. Geotextile
fencing: man made woven fabric to retain solids such as silt in creating wetland areas. o Bundles of sticks ( faggot bundles)
to retain eroding banks, often used with pre planted coir rolls above.
