Befont Lakes Country Park in Middlesex contracted AWM to create an artificial nesting site on an island in their nature reserve. They wished to encourage migratory Sand Martins and or resident Kingfishers to raise their broods in this state of the art accomodation!

A temporary causeway is formed to access the island

The wall is constructed incorporating ready made 'tunnels' made of clay pipe.

The location of the wall is excavated and the channel in front cleared of reeds which are transplanted to another part of the lake.

The render on the front face is given a rough more natural finish. It is then painted  with a sand coloured exterior paint.
